After twenty- one years of being a full-time mother, I decided to give myself a break. I would like to venture to a new career, other than being a mother and a wife, in the digital transcription Industry. Because I believe I got what it takes to be a digital transcriptionist. digital transcription is a relatively new career here in the Philippines that not too many people are familiar with. Others find it boring though due to the nature of the job, but I thought otherwise. For me it’s a very challenging job.

Even at a young age, I dreamed of becoming a doctor. So after finishing my secondary education, I took up Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and completed two years of this course. But because this course tackles so much about Chemistry, which I am not really good at, I decided to shift to another course, Bachelor of Science Major in Zoology. For me it is a much better preparatory- medical course. All of my subjects from the previous course were credited so I became a third year B.S. Zoology student. But during my fourth and last year of the course, with just one semester to go, I got pregnant with my first child so I wasn’t able to finish the course. I even took the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT), an entrance examination for those who would like to enter medical school, and successfully passed it. My relatives and friends thought that all my efforts were put to waste because I didn’t make it to medical school. I can’t blame them. But I am optimistic that someday, somehow I could put into good use what I learned in college. And now is that time.

Being familiar with medical terminologies is what I consider as my advantage of working in the digital transcription Industry. But what I really like about becoming a digital transcriptionist is the fact that you can find work at home jobs which is very favorable for me because it’s like hitting two birds with one stone so to speak. Meaning, I can have a career of my own and at the same time, perform my duties as a mother and as a wife with proper time management. I am my own boss. Not to mention the fact that somehow, I will be contributing to the financial stability of my family. Because let’s face it, times are really hard nowadays and even if you work for long hours, you can hardly make ends meet. The very reason why I want this digital transcriptionist training so badly.

If I’ll be fortunate enough to attend digital transcriptionist schools for free, I would gratefully appreciate it because it’s not every day that you encounter such scholarship. And this would be a great opportunity for me to find stay at home jobs. I am really interested in taking this course for it would enhance my skills and abilities and boost my self-esteem. I’m very eager to learn new things and I’m still craving for more knowledge. Who knows? I might become the next Certified Digital transcriptionist in the near future.
